Interface Design to Support Strategy
How do you use the online presence to support the offline objective?
DICK'S Sports Interface Re-design
Design Team: Justin Hinman, Sijie (CJ) Yang & Jonathan Partlow
The question of how DICK’S Sports compete with online retailers and get more people into their stores was the ask for this project.
The idea of this design is to really cement DICK’S Sports local involvement, support of local sports and showcase the offerings that are available in each local store. This is something that we were surprised wasn’t being done yet by DICK’S Sports. For example: In Bloomington, Indiana the local store carries team apparel for the local clubs, organizations, schools and Indiana University merchandise. This is different at each location. This alos holds true with specific brands and types of equipment in regions and markets. What we found was that there was no ‘LOCAL’ presence or way to access what was available to the local shopper or any way to find special sales, promotions or community specific involvement.
We also found put that the systems are in place to track local inventory, that they print market to local communities and groups and even run location specific ad;s on TV and Radio, but the website didn’t have this information.
The ask for the project was “How do we get more people into the local store?”
The redesign focuses on these community specific and location specific items.
